My own Clubsport/Track spec BMW E92 M3 DCT Coupe in Factory Frozen Grey


Having raced, instructed & done many track days since the early 90’s, I have decided to call it a day to concentrate on other things which was no easy decision to make but the right one for me. I will continue to use the car until sold & you may well see it/me at various trackdays until that time, it may sell quickly, it may take 6 months, a year or more….. there really is no rush.
Over the last 30+ years I have had the pleasure of using numerous cars on track to include Cosworths, Subaru’s, Evo’s, Porsche GT’s, E36/E46 BMW’s but this particular car is by far the very best all round car I have enjoyed.
This car has been transformed to how it is now over the last 2yrs in conjunction with Ronnie at M-Bits UK based in Macclesfield, his attention & quality of workmanship is without doubt, he is a “M” specialist & builds top spec/quality race, track, clubsport cars along with offering a full restoration service to bring vehicles back to better than factory condition. 
In the 18 months of using this car it has NEVER once had a breakdown, issue on track or any other problem, a true testament to his work. 
Between us we have honed & fine tuned this car to how it now stands, many who have been on track at the same time will happily testify to its ability to out perform far higher powered, valued track/road/race cars, it is without doubt one of the best “GT” cars around & can regularly achieve 1:49 laptimes on full circuit at Oulton in trackday traffic, 1:39 on Brands GP, 1:33 at Croft & 1:39’s at Donny GP in the same trackday traffic conditions……

I'm sure there is more in her given the right conditions & driver.

 

So….. I will try & list a “brief/loose” spec below.


I have invoices/proof of spend in excess of £70k not inc the purchase of the car initially, this of course includes some labour & VAT figures but please do not confuse this build with your average M3 Clubsport builds advertised at £25-40k, apples for apples etc…..
I have over 400 photos showing work done along with numerous on track videos to include Oulton, Croft, Donnington, Snetterton, Brands GP, Zandvoort, Spa & Bilster Berg.
This is a Factory Frozen Grey car, & with the additional carbon fibre parts fitted I then decided to have the car fully wrapped ALSO in Frozen Grey, this was at a cost of £2700 which has also helped protect its original paintwork, better than PPF & gives the whole car a uniformed look, this has a guarantee of 5yrs.


Engine/Transmission
Rod bearings done at 81k miles ( old ones here to show ).

Mechanically the car is as good as it gets, the engine oil & filter is changed EVERY 3rd trackday with Shell 10/60 racing oil, the gearbox oil ( Castrol Transmax 75w-140 ) is changed each quarter along with diff oil, PAS fluid & brake fluid, the car always runs Redline Water wetter also, all invoices here show that !

Interior
Full removal & strip of carpet, roof lining, seats, door cards, sound deadening, iDrive, double hump dash, music, etc…. All items are included in this sale APART FROM the front & rear original black leather seats which have since gone.
The car now runs a single hump dash, wiring loom thinned & taped.

Though the car is fully stripped internally it is a pleasure to drive, to be sat in & presents no issues were anyone to want to arrive & drive as it is, alternatively as said, I have all the internal parts which you could easily place back in if you so wish.
The car currently weighs 1392kgs with a 1/4 fuel tank, a further 40-60kgs minimum could be further saved were you to go lightweight doors & plastic windows to 3 sides, Ive been there with other previous builds & I’m happy with how it is currently.

The above is about as much as I can remember along with taking info from all invoices etc…..I’m sure there are bits I have forgotten but it give you an idea.
Wherever this car goes it is admired & discussed, put simply, I built this with no particular budget in mind & to make as good & reliable as possible which I believe we have achieved. 
Only a full certified cage, fire extinguisher in truth, stops it from becoming a full blown eligible race car, I’m sure…… at the moment its simply a car that quite literally will do what you want it to do….
The car goes back to Ronnie at M-Bits UK after every 3rd/4th trackday where oil/filter is changed along with a full spanner check, all nuts, bolts etc… are paint marked & is thoroughly checked each time.
